About Ken
Ken Schmid believes that leading Cecil County requires two things: a deep respect for our past and a sharp eye on the future. As a resident of Cecil County for almost 20 years, a husband to Tanji for 23 years, and a father of five (all attending or graduated from CCPS), he isn’t just running for office -he’s working to protect the home his family loves.
As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and a dedicated CrossFit enthusiast, Ken knows that nothing worth having comes without hard work, humility, and persistence. He brings that same "black belt" mindset to the County Council, approaching complex problems with the grit and discipline needed to get the job done.
In today’s world, managing a county budget requires more than just good intentions. With a degree in Finance (Honors) from the University of Delaware and his career as a Technology Leader, Ken understands the complexities of the modern economy. He has spent years navigating global tech partnerships and managing data-driven results, and he’s ready to bring that same fiscal rigor to Cecil County.
Ken’s respect for our community is rooted in his own history. Growing up in his grandfather’s house in rural southern Delaware, his only neighbors were Amish families and other farmers. That upbringing instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for the quiet strength of a rural lifestyle - a heritage he is determined to preserve here in Cecil County.
Ken is running for District 3 to ensure that our county remains affordable, safe, and true to its roots. He’s ready to move past the rhetoric and start delivering results for you.
